Well then, let's chat!

Life has been busy! I figured it was time to write a small blog post to fill in the big gaps!

On the knitting front, I've actually completed a shawl and really enjoyed it! After having such an epic fail with the first one - I'm so pleasantly surprised. I'm working on my second and really happy with it. The vest for my knitting class is still on the needles. I don't know if I'll ever finish it - it is a constant reminder of stress and disappointment with a knitting class. I should have trusted my gut and not taken the class. Another reminder that you should always trust your gut with BIG and SMALL things. I'm a little bitter about the whole situation and won't bore anyone with the details.

I also dyed my first skein of yarn! Actually, I dyed it three times! :-)

Wyatt is going to be 15 months old in October! Ellie is 3 years old! My father always said "Just wait. As you get older, the time goes by faster. Stop wishing it away." He always said that in response to my lamenting about how things were going so slowly. And he was right. I blinked and Ellie was 1. I half-blinked and she was 2 and Wyatt was with us. Now I've got two toddlers and they are amazing. I love to just sit back and look at them running around. I try to take it all in and savor the time - and burn the images and laughter into my brain.

I never imagined my life would be the way it is. Afterall, I was a total school nerd - had a very successful career, and earned my MBA. Now, I'm a stay at home mom to two children. God has a plan. While it wasn't what I thought it would be, the plan He had for me is so much more rewarding and full of bliss. I might not be "someone" in the corporate world, I'm "someone" to the people I care about and love the most. :-)

Wow - It has been a long time!!

Things are always changing around my house.... since the last time I posted, the biggest change is the addition of a baby boy who is 8 months old now! (and crying now which is probably one of the biggest reasons I haven't been updating the blog!)

What spurred my interest in posting here? Well, I frogged a sock today. One that I finished quite some time ago - it was a bit big and so it sat all by itself, mateless. I could never bring myself to frog the work of something finished - afterall, I put so much time into it. Today, I decided if I wasn't going to knit the mate and it was too big anyhow - I was going to reclaim the yarn so it can be made into something else and used. And that is what I did. I'm feeling like a real knitter now. I can appreciate the work but can also feel good about taking it out if it just isn't right.

And can I say that I now feel that weaving in ends will actually work - it was so very hard to find the end and take it out. That was a discovery that I really liked and that will enable me to further enjoy the process without worry.

it's been a long time....

Why does the theme to Star Trek enterprise come to my mind?

Anyways... it has been a long time since I posted. We are awaiting the birth of baby #2 which is the main reason that I've been absent from everything. This pregnancy seems to have gone by so very fast compared to when I was pregnant with EJ. We don't know the sex of the baby so we'll be surprised when he/she decides to make an appearance.

Along with the pregnancy, came a knitting hiatus - just like with EJ. For some reason, those hormones don't mix well with yarn.

I'm excited that SJ will be stopping in Pittsburgh tomorrow to see us! The last time I saw her was at my baby shower for EJ (I still can't get over the fact she came to help me celebrate that!) and now she actually gets to meet the little girl!!! Hopefully the weather will hold out for us and we'll get to spend most of the day outside.

Speaking of EJ, she's demanding my attention so once again, I've got to sign off. Hopefully, I'll be able to post the events of Sara's visit in a more appropriate time frame!

Dustbunnies are rollin'....

So it has been awhile (again!). Our computer crashed and along with that - all our files are gone. Apparently DH didn't do the set up right to do backups and when he *fixed* the computer, it overwrote everything. All of EJ's pictures and videos - gone. All my knitting patterns - paid for - free - interweave top 5 - gone. *LeSigh*

Ellie just keeps on growing.... she runs around like a maniac. She talks -she says words like Puppy, Duckie, Hi, Bye, Light, See! She repeats and copies instantaneously! She tries to snap her fingers when we do it. She is just amazing and I can't believe how wonderful she is and how much love for a child can grow. I never thought I'd be a mom and now I can't imagine NOT having Ellie. Just goes to prove that you never know where your life's journey is going to go.

I hope to start finding her some playmates her age. We had a neighbor's little boy (4 yrs old) over for 20 minutes or so yesterday and he was a whirlwind - he didn't understand that EJ was so little and didn't understand him. He wanted to play tag and wanted her to chase him. Then he wanted all her toys and when she'd walk over to play with him - he pushed her away. :-(

The only good thing was that she did want to share and play - so I'm happy about that.

Signing off to go and get a few chores done before husband gets home and baby wakes up from her nap.

Boring

Long time, no post! My life is pretty much the same day-to-day for now. I visit with my father just about every day in the monring with EJ. We stay there until she starts to get tired for her morning nap. Then we go home and I shower and get some chores done around the house. With bits of sneaking onto the computer to read what everyone else is up to! Sounds exciting, no?! LOL!

EJ has gotten her molars in addition to her other 6 teeth - I miss the gummy smile - but the teeth are pretty darn cute too. That is until she screeches them together and makes the fingernail on the chalkboard sound with them! Yikes.

I made M&M sugar cookies last night and they are oh so very good - although the sugar cookie batter could be "beefier" if that makes sense. If you have a good sugar cookie recipe - let me know.

On the knitting front, I'm working on my Monkey socks.... down to the last leg repeat and onto the heels! I always get scared when it gets to this part.

Whoosh!

Where has the time gone?  Amazing how fast time flies now that I'm older and that I have a baby girl.

We had a death in the family recently so that has been one of those things that takes up a lot of time and emotion.

Ellie turned 1 on July 13th!  Miss EJ had a blast with cake and had a wonderful time at her birthday party - lots of food and fun!  She is growing and growing - altho she is in the 10-15th percentile for height and weight - she is a little peanut.  We called the bean before she was born - maybe we'll start again - but peanut is cute too.   I'm thinking I like little grape as well.  So many nicknames.

Our Friend SJ sent EJ an adorable knitted outfit and two wonderful books!  I don't know how she found the time to do this - she amazes me!   The pictures are a little blurry but they still show how stunning the outfit is.

Finally, I figured out Pictures

On the 17th, Miss E had two of the four top teeth pop through!   Her front two teeth are now out!  I hope this helps her out and provides some much needed pain relief for the little one!

I did say it was worth going out on Sat because I did have another pair of socks on the needles.... but it was way more worth it than that!   Miss E and I won a bunch of fibery goodies as a result of our outing!  Yay!!!

I'm going to try to put a couple of photos here.   One is of King, our beloved greyhound entertaining me, one is of Ike helping out, and the other is just a cool picture.
